Give Me Some {Sugar}

A few days ago I was scrolling through facebook on my phone like I do most days, several times, ok nearly every waking hour.  🙂  And I ran across a story, which I usually never read, well most of the time, but this one caught my eye.  It was a story about a small coffee shop in London I think.  I sat there reading this story and was transported to this tiny little space, warm and cozy, low lighting, rock lining the walls, green awnings on the windows and I could almost smell the mocha in the air.  The story went on to describe the ordering process of many of the patrons, they hustle in, get their drinks to go, would pay for their coffee and give an additional amount for a drink not ordered.  They would say something like, $5 for my coffee and $5 to pass on.  The coffee shop would then take the payment for the drink and put the additional payment in a spot to pay it forward to a customer who may not be able to afford a drink one day.  They explained it as this community who cared for each other, even strangers, in a way they knew this small gesture would make another persons day just a little bit easier, just a little bit better.

This concept was powerful to me.  We have clients at sugar {rush} designs every day that can afford family pictures, senior pictures, mini sessions, cupcakes for their children’s birthday parties, a table painted, etc.  Then we have potential clients who want nothing more than to have family pictures made because they lost theirs in a fire or would love a new piece of furniture to finish off their daughters bedroom or don’t have the extra money to get enough cake pops for their kids birthday.

So what if we help a stranger to be able to afford a small luxury that seemed to be out of their reach but for your kindness?  That’s the idea behind our new program “Give Me Some {Sugar}!”  With every photography session we will be donating a portion of the proceeds to a future session or service for someone who would otherwise not be able to afford it.  We will also be asking if you would like to pay an additional dollar amount to benefit a family that would benefit from what we have to offer.

For example:

  • Your photography session: $100
  • We will donate 5% to pay toward a future session: $5
  • You donate 5% to pay toward a future session: $5

We will then be able to offer a FREE session to a deserving family after 10 photography sessions booked!  Would that not be amazing?  What a way to bring warmth and kindness and compassion to a neighbor!  We are so excited about this concept.  We want so much to be able to do good for our neighbors and our community.

We will also be taking nominations from our clients for potential beneficiaries of these services paid for by our own clients.  So if you want to give or nominate, please leave the information in the comments or you can give us the name and info in our “contact” page.  I cannot wait to hear from everyone!

Here is what we have been doing lately at the studio…

      Mary - Thanks Ashley! I couldn’t agree more! Pictures are essential for people to relate to their childhoods. If you’d like to be considered as a recipient of a free “give me some sugar” photoshoot or would like to nominate someone please let us know! 🙂ReplyCancel
